Pile Base Resistance
The bearing capacity of the pile base in cohesionless soils is given by the formula:
where: | N60 | - | average number of blows under the base of the pile |
qb | - | pile base resistance
Ab | - | area of the pile base |
Average number of blows under the base of the pile N60 is entered directly in the "Vertical bearing capacity" frame.
The formula for calculating the bearing capacity at the base of the pile is based on imperial units [tsf] - the program automatically converts everything to the units used in the program.
For cohesive soils, the following formula applies:
If the total length of the pile in the soil is less than 3d, the following relationship applies for the maximum resistance at the base:
where: | cu | - | total cohesion at the pile base |
Nc | - | ||
L | - | length of pile in soil
d | - | diameter of the pile base |
Bearing capacity factor Nc is calculated by the program automatically, but it is also possible to input it manually.
